Festival season is here. Whether you’re camping, glamping, have opted for a more luxurious rental, or are just out for the day, spending time in the sun with (I’m assuming) more than one or two G&T’s can take a toll on your mind and body.
I’ve got some suggestions to take your festival wellness during – and in the recovery period after – to the next level.
BYOW(ater). Try and go low waste this festival season by taking a reusable water bottle with you. Stay hydrated on the inside whilst reducing the amount of waste caused by thousands of people each year at festivals by planning one step ahead – also water fountains are usually readily available, so less time queuing means more time dancing. Drink water between each alcoholic beverage to avoid dehydration.
Pack SPF! Nothing ruins a festival more than angry sunburn.
Just because you’re sleeping rough doesn’t mean you have to look like it. During these sometimes sleepless nights your skin, your hair, your everything will be gasping for a hydration boost. Keep it simple by using one multi-purpose product. Pack light with our award-winning Travel Size Wild Rose Beauty Balm for all of our beauty needs, containing beeswax (a natural humectant) and wild rosehip seed (a potent antioxidant) this balm will help repair, firm and smooth the skin – restoring natural radiance. My top tip: make use of the multi-purpose benefits. This balm can also be used as a lip balm, on sunburn, as a natural highlighter and most importantly to help your glitter stick!
Take healthy snacks… eating festival food for several days straight can take a bit of a toll on your digestive system. Try taking cold pressed cereal/fruit bars for a vitamin boost that won’t perish. If you have some room in your bag, bring some watermelon, cucumber or peppers which have high water content. A good probiotic and vitamin won’t hurt either!
Take Milk Thistle supplements before, during and after as they have been known to support your liver.
When it comes to sleeping, less is not more. Take whatever you need to ensure you have a good night sleep – trust me, it will be worth the extra trip to your car. I don’t expect you to be getting 9 hours sleep in a festival setting but there are some clean essentials so you can try! Make sure you’re removing all SPF, sweat and glitter off before getting your shut-eye. I know, difficult whilst scrambling in a dark tent – try our Organic Facial Wipes, enriched with soothing aloe vera and antioxidant white tea, they gently remove all impurities and they’re made with 100% biodegradable organic cotton. Happy skin, happy planet. Follow with our Calming Temple Salve to help soothe and calm the mind, massage onto temples, forehead and pressure points in a light circular motion to help you drift off; may I also suggest a good quality silk eye mask and ear plugs…
Waking up after a did-I-even-sleep night might be a bit tricky – I’m sure you’ll take all the help you can get. We’re obsessed with our Energy Remedy to Roll. It’s small enough to keep with you all day and has an energising blend of rosemary, grapefruit and geranium essential oils so you can use on pulse points whenever you need a mind and body boost!
Keep your glow game strong with a handy face mist. Choose one rich in antioxidants and vitamins like our White Tea Facial Mist – popular for its pollution boosting properties, it refreshes, rehydrates and calms all skin types. My favourite way to use it? Spritz over make-up and use as a natural setting spray, it’s rich in glycerin which allows your makeup to stay festival perfect all day (and night).
Ah, the great outdoors. Not known for being the cleanest of places especially when combined with music and alcohol. Embrace it, but combat germs at the same time… Have an Organic Hand Spray to use before you eat or as a quick freshen up. Our non-toxic formula contains witch hazel and a blend of antibacterial essential oils proven to kill 99.9% of bacteria and it contains glycerin to keep the hands soft!
Speaking of cleanliness… Showers aren’t usually headlining at festivals. My top tip: use our Lavender & Tea Tree Body Powder as dry shampoo – sprinkle directly on to the hair and use fingers or a comb to brush through, it takes out greasiness with a clean, green blend of cornstarch and essential oils. You can also use it on clothes and shoes overnight to help soak up moisture if the weather is against you!
