Easily recognized because of its thorny stems and stunning flowers, rose leaves fall in winter leaving bare stems and flower in mid-summer. The petals are edible and usually pink to pale red. The hips that follow the flowers of the dog rose (Rosa canina) are harvested in the autumn - rosehip seed oil is a key ingredient in our cult favourite, Wild Rose Beauty Balm.
